Food is Happiness
This year, I have been doing a lot of baking, and my latest obsession is shortbread. The Caker has a great shortbread recipe in her latest book - Sunday Baking. I've adapted the recipe by adding freeze dried fruit powder. I made 2 types - Passionfruit shortbread dipped in dark chocolate with freeze dried raspberries sprinkled on top, and Lime shortbread dipped in dark chocolate with shopped pistachios sprinkled on top. I've also got some orange, lemon and matcha flavours that

Copenhagen, I love you - Part 1
As a young design student, I fell in love with Danish design. I loved the simplicity and authenticity that is embraced, and there is no other nation I would rather be looking to for design inspiration. I have wanted to visit Copenhagen for so long, and I can't believe I'm finally here! The streets here are just amazing. All the houses we passed by on our train journey from Amsterdam to Copenhagen were just so gorgeous. Side note: We had 5 transfers for our train from Amsterda

Amster DAYAM
So I'm skipping over our 2 day stop in London because lets face it, London is boring as hell and I didn't want to be there. Maurizio can attest as to how unhappy I was about leaving Iceland for LONDON of all places. We pretty much caught up on sleep and meet up with some friends while we were there, but then took the train from London to Amsterdam via Brussels. We arrived in Amsterdam around 6pm and took a shuttle straight to our hotel, Hampton by Hilton in Schiphol near the

New York: Part 2 - Exploring Lower Manhattan and experiencing a NY Blizzard
DAY 2 Chinatown, Little Italy, 9/11 Memorial, Wall Street, Staten Island, Statue of Liberty Despite our best intentions, the jetlag has really kicked in and we woke up at midday in a panic, after having trouble sleeping the night before. We quickly packed our daypack and hopped on the subway to our first stop - Tim Ho Wan the Dim Sim specialists. New York might be the best place other then China to get Chinese food and we were not disappointed! The decor was really nice, with

New York: Part 1 - Getting there and art at MoMA
DAY 0 Getting there is half the challenge 3:30am is not a reasonable hour to be awake, I maintain that stance. However, that was our wake up time for our 6:55am flight to Sydney from Wellington, so there we were, stumbling out of the house at 4am. Luckily the sun was starting to rise by the time we made it up in the air. I'll admit I wasn't exactly looking forward to this part of the trip. It's pretty tough for me to sleep on planes so I never enjoy the plane ride. This time

Cakeday
It's been a while since I last posted but that's because I've been too bothered by the hot weather to do much productive tasks. I did cater a BBQ last month for about 35 people and make a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing, chocolate moose cups, and most importantly some goddam macarons that I forgot to take photos of. It would have been some of my finest work I tell you, they were raspberry buttercream filled macarons arranged in ombré pink. I'm disappointed I didn't re

Birthday cake decadence
It was my fiancés birthday and as per tradition, I made him a cake to top the previous years. This year it was a rich dark chocolate cake with salted caramel buttercream, topped with chocolate ganache and salted caramel sauce and various sweet treats. I don't know how I'm going to outdo myself next year! #food #lifestyle #cooking
