Starting an Art Collection: Ceramics
So I've been starting to look for pieces to begin my own art collection, a couple of my favourite places to visit in Wellington are VESSEL and Eyeball Kicks, they stock the most wonderful collection of ceramics and art prints by both local and international artists.
My very first art purchase was a Ghostie print for Maurizio as a birthday present - except it still sits in the protective wrapping as we haven't gotten around to having it framed yet! One day...
The latest piece I recently acquired was by Rachel Carter, she creates the most beautiful forms and with such gorgeous textures and finishes, I found a couple I liked in Vessel but hesitated to purchase them. The next day I made up my mind to got back and get them, and there was only one left! Luckily it was the one I had my eye on :D
The store assistant even let me have the piece of dried branch that it was displayed with - what a score! I'll definitely keep my eye out for more pieces by Rachel Carter for my collection.
